Hallmark Equipment Service Ltd. (HES) in Bedfordshire has supplied and serviced industrial printers and provided consumables to the printing industry since 1985. HES serves a wide range of customers including DuPont for which it stocks and manages parts inventory for the UK, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. The company also markets its own Longier range of UV LED printers worldwide.
During its first 20 years HES was able to manage its own stock control using local knowledge. As the company grew it developed a more formal spread sheet system to control stock movements. However, HES still suffered from a lack of overall control that caused wastage and inefficiency that was inhibiting its development.
MACS Software quickly assessed the business requirements and installed its MACSwms software together with the i-MACS module that allows users to access data from anywhere, anytime via an Internet connection. When HES was subsequently awarded the contract to manage spare parts storage and distribution for DuPont, with thousands of product lines, it was ideally placed to do so. Today, HES engineers, managers and worldwide distributors have real-time stock visibility from any time zone and can call off spares with absolute confidence. Stock flow in and out of the warehouse is strictly controlled, picking is fast and accurate and stock never needs to be written off.
The warehouse staff are now able to pick the items, confirm their order and produce dispatch labels directly themselves without having to wait for them to be processed by the office.
